AREC asks ERC to approve transmission line to wind power plant

Ayala-owned Amihan Renewable Energy Corp. (AREC) asked the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to approve the construction of a point-to-point transmission facility to connect its 70-megawatt Caparispisan wind power plant to the Luzon Grid to pave the way for its commercial operations by the first quarter.

    Personally, there are two issues here:
    1. Is the project part of the TDP? If not, the project’s not being able to supply its power production cannot be blamed for lack of transmission.
    2. Will the dedicated transmission line be part of the generation cost or part of transmission cost? There is a difference because as part of generation cost, it will be a cost only of AREC customers. if it is part of transmission cost, all of us will share in the cost even if we are not AREC customers.
