Quality service? I wonder how our lawmakers can give an assurance that they will make sure this will happen AFTER THE RENEWAL OF THE FRANCHISE. That’s water under the bridge. Does this mean it is not happenning now? If it is not, what was the basis of the renewal – just the fear of no electricity?
How about LEAST COST? The house and the Senate were given reports to prove Meralco’s rates cannot be called least cost. The fact that Meralco agreed to pay the refund P7.8 billion for the 3rd RP and P40 billion fir the period 2016 to 2022 ( ordered by ERC) without protest (and with more refunds expected to come) proves that the previous statements to the media by Meralco officials that there was no over-billing were not correct.
Yet, Congress and Senate leaders approved the franchise extension without investigation and, with four more years to go. What’s the hurry? Some groups say the only compelling reason for the rush is the coming election.
My fellow consumers, for the past year or so, we heard many loud mouths and all sorts of accusations vs Meralco. Yet, was there any meaningful investigations that looked into these? Or, are they just for show? Let us find out who voted for and against this move so we know who to blame for our woes and issues which were never considered. No consumer groups even participated in the public hearings.
SO UNFAIR TO THE PUBLIC IN GENERAL AND CONSUMERS IN PARTICULAR.
